Amazon Brand Registry: Steps After Your US Trademark Filing
Key takeaways
As of October 2026, Amazon Brand Registry is free, but the trademark owner must enroll with a mark from an office Amazon accepts. For the US store that is the USPTO. A pending filing qualifies only "in some cases," and the verification code goes to the contact on the trademark record.
Which trademark Amazon accepts, who applies, and what you can use once you are in
Brand owners based outside the US often ask us:
"Our trademark is registered at home. Will Amazon accept it for the US store?"
"We filed with the USPTO last month. Can we enroll now, or do we wait for registration?"
"Can our agency enroll the brand for us?"
The short answer: Amazon Brand Registry is free, but it needs a trademark from an office Amazon accepts, and the trademark owner has to enroll the brand. For the US store, that office is the USPTO.
Brand Registry is Amazon's program for brand owners. Per Amazon, it is free even for brands that do not sell in the Amazon store.
This post starts where the trademark filing ends: which marks qualify, pending applications, IP Accelerator, the enrollment steps and what you get access to.
1. What Amazon Brand Registry costs
Enrollment costs nothing (Amazon Brand Registry). The spending happens around it:
- The trademark: attorney fees and government fees for a US filing
- Paid tools: Vine enrollment fees and Transparency codes
- A selling account: A+ Content and Stores need one (Amazon blog)
Amazon's Brand Registry page also offers enrolled brands 10% back on the first $50,000 in branded sales, then 5% through the first year up to $1,000,000, plus a $200 Vine credit. Conditions apply and offers change, so check the page on the day you enroll.
Brand Registry is free. The trademark that gets you there is not.
2. Which trademarks qualify: office, mark type and owner
Amazon's FAQ sets the rule: you need an active registered trademark, or a pending application, issued by the designated government trademark office of a country with a corresponding Amazon store. A mark from a country with no Amazon store does not meet that wording.
For the US store, the office is the USPTO. Amazon's Korea seller page says a US enrollment needs a mark filed on the USPTO Principal Register, the USPTO's main register. The same page says a WIPO Madrid application number cannot be used; you need the USPTO number.
Two mark types qualify (Amazon FAQ):
- Word mark: text only
- Design mark: an image that contains words, letters or numbers
For a design mark, upload the logo exactly as it appears on the trademark record. Amazon asks you not to upload the full certificate.
What about a mark registered only at home? In November 2025, an Amazon community manager on the Seller Central forums said South Korea is not currently a supported office and no timeline is available. That is a staff reply, not a policy page. Check the country list in the enrollment form before you plan around a home-country mark.
One account covers every country. Per Amazon's FAQ, you pick a single trademark office when you enroll and add other countries' marks after approval.
The trademark owner must enroll. If you are an agent, Amazon says the owner enrolls first and then adds you as a user (Amazon FAQ). The form does offer options for applicants with an authorization letter or a license agreement, but the application guide strongly recommends that the owner enroll.
What counts is not whether you own a trademark somewhere, but whether the owner holds one from an office Amazon accepts.
3. Pending USPTO applications: the official wording and the conflict
Amazon's FAQ allows pending applications, with a qualifier: "In some cases, you may also enroll with a pending trademark registration" (Amazon FAQ). Other Amazon sources add detail, and they do not fully agree:
- Amazon's Korea seller page: for a pending mark, Amazon can usually process the enrollment 48 hours after the filing.
- IP Accelerator: for filings made through an IP Accelerator firm, you can enroll once the application is pending.
- A 2025 Seller Central forum reply: pending marks count only from certain offices, "which does not include the USPTO for direct filings." This is a forum reply, not policy.
So whether a pending USPTO application you filed yourself will work is not settled by the official wording. If your launch depends on a pending mark, confirm in the enrollment form that Amazon accepts your serial number. The certain routes are a registered mark or an IP Accelerator filing.
Treat a self-filed pending mark as unconfirmed until the form accepts it.
4. IP Accelerator vs filing on your own
IP Accelerator is Amazon's directory of vetted IP law firms. Amazon charges no fee to connect you; you pay the firm directly (IP Accelerator).
On the same page, the maximum fees Amazon has agreed with the firms, for one brand in one class, are:
- US trademark application: $700 plus government fees
- High-level brand search: $650
- Comprehensive brand review: $1,800
Firms should respond within two business days. Using IP Accelerator does not give access to every Brand Registry tool; Amazon says each tool has its own requirements.
| File on your own | File through IP Accelerator | |
|---|---|---|
| Paid to Amazon | Nothing (Brand Registry is free) | Nothing (no connection fee) |
| Attorney fee for a US filing | Set by your firm | Up to $700 plus government fees |
| Enroll while pending | Official wording says "in some cases"; a 2025 forum reply excludes direct USPTO filings | Yes, once the application is pending |
| First response from the firm | Set by your firm | Within two business days |
| Source | Amazon FAQ, Seller Central forum | IP Accelerator |
The main reason to use IP Accelerator is to start Brand Registry while the application is still pending.
5. Amazon Brand Registry enrollment, step by step
You enroll at brandregistry.amazon.com. The application guide asks for the following:
- The form: once you start it, you have 3 days to submit before it expires.
- Brand name: match the trademark record exactly, including capitalization, spaces and special characters. The guide's example: "AmazonEcho" for a mark registered as "Amazon Echo" is not approved.
- Ownership: say whether you own the mark or hold an authorization letter or license agreement.
- Product photos: real photos showing the brand name permanently on the product or packaging. Printed, sewn, laser-etched or engraved counts. Stickers, labels, hang tags and stamps do not. Mockups and edited images are rejected.
- ASINs: do not list ASINs that sit under a different brand name, or the application will be denied.
- Manufacturing proof: if a third party makes the product, upload sourcing or manufacturing invoices from the last 6 months.
On capitalization, Amazon's pages disagree. The requirements blog accepts differences; the guide and the Korea seller page say to match. Match it.
Type the brand name exactly as the trademark record shows it.
6. The verification code goes to the contact on the trademark record
After you submit, Amazon sends a verification code to the public contact listed on the trademark office's website, the trademark correspondent (application guide). The brand owner gets the code from that contact and returns it to Amazon. If a US attorney filed your mark, look up who is listed as the correspondent before you apply.
The deadline depends on the source:
- Application guide: submit the code in your case log within 10 days. Miss it and the case closes; you file a new application.
- Requirements blog (August 2025): the contact gets an email link to confirm the brand association and must confirm within 7 days, or the application is declined.
Work to the shorter 7-day window, and check the Brand Applications page in Brand Registry often after you submit.
On review time, Amazon's Korea seller page says approval usually takes 1 to 2 weeks. An Amazon staff reply on the UK forum in 2024 put the average at 10 working days.
Agree with your trademark contact, before you apply, who forwards the code and how fast.
7. What enrollment gives you, and what it does not
Enrollment does not open every tool. Each one has its own conditions.
- Report a Violation: one place to report suspected IP infringement, store policy violations and regulatory concerns (Amazon Brand Registry). It works without a selling account (Amazon blog). Our MSRP and MAP post covers how it fits a pricing policy.
- A+ Content and Stores: need a selling account (Amazon blog). Our LLC post covers whether a foreign company needs a US entity to open one.
- Amazon Vine: if a product is part of a brand, the brand must be enrolled in Brand Registry (Amazon Vine). Vine costs and rules are in our reviews post.
- Transparency: a unique code on every unit lets Amazon check that it is genuine. There is no enrollment fee; you pay $0.05, $0.03 or $0.01 per code, by annual volume tier (Amazon Transparency). Eligible brand origins are the US, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the UK, India, Japan and China. Amazon's Korea page says it is not currently supported for Korean sellers.
- Project Zero: a free self-service tool to remove counterfeit listings. You need an active registered trademark in that store's country, and you must keep an accuracy rate of at least 99% (Project Zero). A pending mark does not qualify, and Korea is not on the list of stores where it runs.
Check a tool's own conditions before you plan around it.
8. TikTok Shop runs its own brand authorization
Approval in Amazon Brand Registry does not carry over to TikTok Shop. Per TikTok Shop's seller guide, trademarked products need brand authorization, which you request in the Qualification Center in Seller Center. Listings without it may be removed.
Each channel checks your trademark on its own.
Four checks before you apply
1. Is the mark for the US store a USPTO mark, and is the trademark owner the company that will enroll?
2. If the mark is pending, was it filed directly or through IP Accelerator, and does the form accept it?
3. Who is the correspondent on the trademark record, and have they agreed to forward the code the day it arrives?
4. Do you have real photos with the brand name permanently on the product or packaging?
Wrap-up
Brand Registry costs nothing to join. The outcome is set earlier, by the office that issued the mark, the owner's name on it and the contact who receives the code. Amazon's sources disagree on pending USPTO filings and non-US offices, so confirm those in the enrollment form.
LinkONE supports Korean brands with Amazon US store setup, from seller account registration and listing optimization to inventory management and Amazon Ads.
In the end, your Amazon Brand Registry result is decided by where your trademark was filed and in whose name.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does Amazon Brand Registry cost?
Enrollment is free (Amazon Brand Registry). The trademark filing and paid tools such as Vine and Transparency cost extra. Through IP Accelerator, the maximum attorney fee for a US trademark application is $700 plus government fees, for one brand and one class (IP Accelerator).
Can I enroll with a trademark registered outside the US?
Only if it comes from the designated office of a country with an Amazon store, and you enroll it for that store (Amazon FAQ). The full office list is behind a Seller Central login. In November 2025, an Amazon community manager said South Korea was not a supported office (Seller Central forum). For the US store, use a USPTO mark.
Can I enroll with a pending USPTO application I filed myself?
It is unclear. Amazon's FAQ allows pending marks "in some cases" (Amazon FAQ), but a 2025 forum reply says direct USPTO filings do not qualify (Seller Central forum). Filings made through IP Accelerator can enroll once pending (IP Accelerator). Confirm in the enrollment form first.
Can my agency enroll the brand for me?
The trademark owner should enroll. Amazon says an authorized agent should have the owner enroll the brand, then be added as a Brand Registry user (Amazon FAQ).
Who receives the verification code, and how long do I have?
The public contact on the trademark record receives it. The application guide gives 10 days to submit it, while Amazon's August 2025 requirements blog describes a 7-day email confirmation. Plan for 7 days.
